Live Music at Reading Tango Club

When funds permit, we love to bring great tango musicians to our Reading Milongas. For us, musicians bringing tango to life with their own personal style and a tangible emotion. It is a unique experience for dancers. We love the old recordings too but with skilled musicians, dancing to live music is simply magic.
We hold live music milongas on occasional basis - when the musicians are available and when funds permit (hiring a band is expensive). Sometimes it may be a single musician like Carlos Quilici and his bandoneon, or Corina Piatti's wonderful vocals & guitar, or a six piece orchestra like El Piropo. All bring a special dimension to tango.
Here's some of the talent we've have lined up and have enjoyed in the past.
LUCIO ARCE & PABLO MOSTEIRO
Lucio Arce (Guitar & vocals) is a well known tango musician and composer with a number of successful recordings. He's one of the leading figures of "underground tango" of Buenos Aires - he writes and performs original tango songs full of humor and irony telling of the daily life of Buenos Aires and the Argentine passions ... He'll treat us to some his original tangoes alongside the songs from the established canon.

Pablo Mosteiro (Guitar & vocals) was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1985. He has been passionate about singing since childhood. In 2004 he launched his career as a tango singer in the United States. After spending time in Rome, he now lives in UK, where he continues to perform tango songs. He has also sung in Japan, France, Spain and Argentina.

CARLOS QUILICI
Bandoneonist, lyricist & composer, Carlos comes from a line of great musical talent. His father Gerardo is a renowned tango broadcaster with his legendary programme A Todo Tango. His grandfather was the great violinist Nito Farace. Carlos honours this lineage with his own musical talent and beautiful compositions and arrangements.
Carlos formed his tango quintet  Los Tauras in 1995 and his own orchestra in 2010. He has recorded several albums and has made over thirty international tours across Europe, the Americas and Scandinavia. Carlos also runs workshops on technical elements of tango and tango interpretation and chats about the instrumental evolution of tango and musicality for dancers. And as if this were not enough, he tunes and repairs bandoneons.
TANINO DUO is a Buenos Aires group that combines two instruments with a strong popular tradition: chromatic harmonica and guitar. They play popular Argentinian music, with special emphasis on the music of Buenos Aires. With a repertoire composed of tangos, waltzes and milongas from different eras, as well as zambas and chacareras, and even their own compositions, They play music for dancing!
TANGO CLASICO TRIO is a collaboration of three outstanding UK-based musicians, born out of a shared passion: Argentine Tango. Most people know Tango as a dance but sometimes the richness of its repertoire is overlooked. The Trio aims to bring together the musical virtuosity and raw passionate fire that makes Tango unique.
GUILLERMO ROZENTHULER (vocals)
Buenos Aires-born vocalist and guitarist Guillermo Rozenthuler, based in Great Britain since 2000 has become the leading voice of Argentine Tango in the UK. A soulful singer and a versatile improviser, he can be heard across Europe and the UK with Tango Siempre, the London Tango Orchestra and Tango Clasico trio.
