Poetry of Vals. Explore the rhythmic beauty of vals through syncopation, phrasing, and playful musicality. Bring your dance to life with dynamic expression and precise timing.
When: Sunday 19th October from 14:30 to 16:00
Level: Advanced
Teachers: Octavio Fernandez and Carolina Giannini
Location: Richards Hall, Abbey School
Description:
Vals offers a unique musical landscape—fluid, circular, and full of unexpected possibilities. In this advanced class, we’ll explore how to bring your dance to life through syncopation and dynamic phrasing. You’ll learn to hear and interpret the characteristic rhythms of vals, playing both with and against the beat to create movement that is vibrant, expressive, and deeply musical.
You will work on technical precision in timing and phrasing, as well as the creative freedom that comes with understanding how to shift energy, pause, and accent in playful, surprising ways. This is a class for dancers who want to move beyond steps and into the artistry of musical dialogue—where your dance becomes a true expression of the music’s heartbeat.
