About us
We're passionate about Argentine Tango and have been inspired by the wonderful teachers who have helped us on our tango journey. We were lucky to have started our tango experience with great Argentinian teachers who have given us a deeper understanding of tango that goes beyond simply a dance. We hope the club classes and milongas will help inspire in others a love of Argentine Tango and to help create a vibrant centre for learning and dancing Tango in Reading.
What we do
The Club organises Tango classes and workshops with teachers who we believe can help us to develop our skills and awareness of how to dance within the traditions, both old and new, of Argentina. These have ranged from pioneers of Tango such as Carlos & Maria Rivarola, Roberto Herrera and Los Ocampo to some of the new stars of salon tango. One of our core teachers, Alexandra Wood, has coached couples for their Argentine Tango on Strictly Come Dancing.
Our milongas aim to continue the tradition of milongas in Buenos Aires, in the music we play and the atmosphere we re-create.
We run the club on a not-for-profit basis. Any profit after expenses is invested in teachers and events that add to a great tango experience here in Reading.

About Tango
Tango conjures up so many images. It's intimate, passionate, sensual, and sometimes dramatic.
Dancing Tango can be simply magical, and can become totally addictive. But it does take time to learn and we hope we make the process of learning fun.
Argentine Tango (unlike Ballroom Tango) is a completely improvised dance. The tango you see on programmes like Strictly is show tango that has been carefully choreographed. Social tango allows you and your partner to be creative and simply enjoy the music.
There are some basic steps to learn, like walking forward, walking back, side steps and pivots and walking to the "cross'. But once these basic steps are mastered, the magic begins!
Lots of people have done a great job in describing Tango, so rather than re-inventing the wheel, here are links to some of our favourite sites about Tango.
Dancing Salon Style Argentine Tango – a lovely description from h2g2 that gives an excellent low down on Argentine Tango and what it takes to dance.
Todo Tango - Everything Tango, stories, artists, music, community, including a daily music selection.
