From TangoAr to Reading Tango Club
Back in 2010 Barbara was searching for tango classes that reflected the tango she'd experienced in Argentina. A chance meeting with Argentinian maestro, Ricardo Delgado brought the search to an end.
" A friend gave me a flyer for classes at St Luke's run by Ricardo Delgado. I joined what was the final class before Ricardo headed to Italy. But a friendship and a partnership was formed and when Ricardo returned to Reading later that year, I joined forces to help with marketing, running classes, helping establish TangAr in Reading and at the same time learning to dance the beautiful Argentine tango I'd longed for.. Ricardo taught me so much, not just tango steps but a love of tango that reaches deep and becomes part of your life."
Ricardo was quite simply an inspirational and exceptional teacher and a personal mentor. His knowledge of the Tango, its history and its customs was extensive. Classes grew, TangoAr milongas became vibrant events that attracted dancers from far and wide. Ricardo's friendships with other Tango masters brought visiting talent to Reading, culminating in the very first Reading Tango Festival.
When Ricardo left Reading to move to Spain, Barbara was determined not to lose the wonderful centre of Argentine tango that she'd helped develop in Reading and with the help of Veronica & David, Reading Tango Club was born and builds on Ricardo's legacy, bringing exceptional tango teaching to Reading.
