WEEKLY ARGENTINE TANGO CLASSES IN READING
Learning Tango at Reading Tango Club
Reading Tango Club has gained a reputation for the quality of the tango teaching. Our teachers all have a passion for tango that is infectious and all have extensive teaching experience as well as performing on stage around the world. The focus of classes is on beautiful, improvised Argentine tango that can be danced socially, anywhere in the world, not choreographed sequences or "show" tango. It's important to us that our teachers are also excellent dancers; they are our role models and our inspiration. Because Argentine Tango is an improvised dance you have lots of scope to be creative once you've learned the basics.
Classes are currently being run by Oxford Tango Academy with director Dante Culcuy and his team of expert teachers.

TANGO BEGINNERS
Learning any new dance can be daunting so we try and make classes as friendly, relaxed and inclusive as possible. You'll learn how to connect with a partner to be be able to "lead" & "follow". how to walk elegantly and master simple turns and some lovely sequences to help you understand how to blend steps and movement into something unique . We run drop-in beginners classes on Wednesday evenings and our next structured, 6 week beginners course will start in September See our Beginners page for information.

KEEPING EVERYONE SAFE
Covid & other viruses are still around so please help keep everyone safe by giving classes a miss if you are at all unwell.
Although tea & coffee will be available (St Luke's only), it's a big help if you bring your own drink container.

Inside our classes
After class demonstrationsAfter every class the teachers give a demonstration of the elements taught during the lesson to show how movement and musicality come together. Have a look at our YouTube channel
|
Tango step by step
Our teachers take time to explain each movement and then go round the class to give individual feedback to students before adding more elements to the lesson.
|
Tango drills can help
Sometimes, our teachers will introduce a "drill" section to the class to help students learn the steps and work on muscle memory.
|
Body mechanics & danceTeachers Adrien Baraki-Alaoui & Iro Davlanti Lo spend time to help students understand the finer detail of movement that adds fluency and elegance to movement..
|
Classes are fun too
We all work hard during classes but our teachers bring a sense of humour to their teaching and our lovely students have fun as they learn tango.
|
Time to practice
We have a practica (practice) session) at the end of classes so that students can dance together and practice what's been covered in class and also help each other gain confidence.
